Improving Enterprise Risk Management

Abstract: Risk management has become very controversial following the collapse of many large banks that prided themselves on how well they managed risk. The reality is that despite layers of risk “controls” people can always get around them if it means getting decisions “through the system” that increase their earnings. In this paper we review some of the current thinking on risk management and suggest some steps that leaders can take to encourage a more open and transparent approach
